The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
The largest professional association for CPAs in North America. The AICPA site provides access to industry news, educational programs, legal developments and full-text online versions of the Journal of Accountancy.

Audit Techniques Guide

IRS guides that contain examination techniques, common and unique industry issues, business practices, industry terminology and other information to assist examiners performing examinations.  Arranged alphabetically by industry.

Financial Accounting Standards Board

Establishes and improves standards of financial accounting and reporting.

Governmental Accounting Standards Board
An independent, private-sector, not-for-profit organization that establishes and improve standards of state and local governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Institute of Management Accountants
The leading association for the management accounting profession. The vision statement of the IMA is..."to provide members personal and professional development opportunities in management accounting, financial management and information management."

International Accounting Standards Board
The site has been designed to help users follow and participate in the international accounting standard- setting process. The Accounting Degree Guide
Information on accounting careers, including listings of colleges & universities offering accounting degrees in different specialties; articles on accounting topics; and interviews with recent accounting graduates.  The site is maintained by a doctoral student in the Accounting and Management Department at Harvard Business School.

National Association of State Boards of Accountancy
Provides free access to information for uniform CPA examinations in each state, including downloadable application forms. The site also provides links for all state boards of accountancy and state CPA societies.

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
A private-sector, non-profit corporation, created by Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies.  You can obtain the text of Auditing Stadard no. 1 through no. 5 and interim PCAOB standards.
