Student Research Grants

Undergraduate students at Bryant University can expand their education beyond the classroom by partnering with Bryant faculty or staff members to conduct research projects that contribute to new knowledge in a field or discipline of their choosing.

About

Students and their faculty/staff partners can apply for funding to support study participant recruitment, technology, materials, or travel for conference presentations.  Student and faculty/staff research teams can apply for one time funding per project for up to $3000.

All areas of academic, practitioner, artistic expression, or professional study can be considered for an undergraduate research grant.  Research methodologies may include empirical and scientific research, creative media and expression, as well as critique and inquiry-based investigations, with the end goal of adding to the scholarship around a specific discipline, practice, or theory.

While funded projects may be components of larger faculty or staff research, the undergraduate research grant projects should indicate a level of independence, such that the sub-project contains its own outcomes and findings.

Eligibility
  1. Any individual undergraduate student or teams of students of up to 3 people can apply for funding. Only one application is needed for a team project. Projects that are student motivated or affiliated with faculty/staff research are eligible for funding.
  2. Student applicant(s) must have a faculty partner who will supervise the research project.
  3. Applications for each round of funding must be completed fully and in time for consideration for that round of funding.
  4. A team can request continued funding for the same project but must provide evidence of advancement in the project.  A team that is applying for subsequent funding must also be aware that approval of a first round does not guarantee follow-up funding.
  5. A team that has received funding for one project may submit a request for funding of a new project, however, priority may be given to individuals who have not been granted prior funding.
